They sat in silence again for a long while, her proclamation circling in his head as he held her a little tighter, a little more closely. All the more protectively.
“We’ll take things at your pace,” he promised at last, speaking softly. “You tell me every time you’re ready to take the next step, and we’ll take it. When you feel ready to face a lab again, let me know, and I’ll see what I can do to get those nodes out, alright? Then we’ll see what we can do to help Billy.”
She nodded, taking a deep breath. ”Things will probably start to come easier after the funeral.” She murmured, the thought was not one that she relished. Seeing him put in the ground would have a finality she didn’t know if she could take. What she did know was that Hank was the only doctor she would let near her.
“Closure,” he agreed quietly, squeezing her shoulder. “I doubt it’ll be easy, but… it’ll be-… helpful, at least. With any luck. Help you move on.”
